WEEK 2

1. Introduce the name of the food and its cultural background.
Kaiseki is a traditional Japanese food. The kanji characters used to write kaiseki literally mean "stone in the bosom". The idea came from the practice where Zen monks would ward off hunger by putting warm stones into the front folds of their robes, near their bellies.

2. Introduce the ingredients of the food.
Kaiseiki cuisines are primarily prepared only from fresh prawns with seasonal seafood, fruits and vegetables aiming to enhance their flavor.

3. Write something about the appearances of the food.
Originally, kaiseki comprised a bowl of miso soup and three side dishes. It has since evolved to include an appetizer, sashimi, a simmered dish, a grilled dish, and a steamed course, in addition to other dishes at the discretion of the chef. Dishes are beautifully arranged and garnished, often with real leaves and flowers, as well as edible garnishes designed to resemble natural plants and animals.

4. Write about what the food means to you or your family.
Kaiseki is a type of art form that balances the taste, texture, appearance, and colors of food. I like it since it presents Japanese cuisine in an art form and help me gain awareness of the Japanese food culture more.
